EMILY’s List Backs Candidates in Illinois, Florida

EMILY’s List on Wednesday put the organization’s full backing behind East Moline Alderman Cheri Bustos in Illinois’ 17th district and former Orlando Police Chief Val Demings in Florida’s 8th district.

Bustos faces a competitive primary to win the nod to challenge freshman Republican Rep. Bobby Schilling. It’s unclear whether Demings will face a similar scenario because Florida is not expected to finish its new Congressional map until next year.

EMILY’s List, a campaign organization that backs Democratic women who support abortion rights, has endorsed seven House candidates so far for the November 2012 elections.
