Heard on the Hill: Lessig Wants Occupy DC to Target the Hill

The unwashed masses camped out across our fair city may not have running water, a central figurehead or as much clout as the tea party, but they will get a crash course Tuesday night on calling out politicos when Harvard Law professor cum author Lawrence Lessig comes to town.

Lessig’s latest tome, “Republic, Lost: How Money Corrupts Congress — And a Plan to Stop It,” keeps lawmakers and those that bankroll them squarely in its cross hairs. He firmly believes the occupiers should worry less about what’s going on at commercial banks, on K Street or even behind the carefully guarded doors of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. — because the real action happens farther up the road.

“There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil; they need to strike the root … [and] focus these protests on the corruption that is Congress,” Lessig tells HOH of the battle cry that he plans to convey to the group during a scheduled strategy session.
