HOH’s One-Minute Recess: O’Malley’s Time in the Fields

Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley “brought the house down” Saturday at Ireland’s Four Fields in Cleveland Park, an HOH tipster tells us.

The two-term Democratic governor and his old bandmates in Shannon’s Tide, were there for what was thought to be the fabled pub’s last night in business. Apparently, the pub, formerly known as Ireland’s Four Provinces (“Meet you at 4Ps” is a familiar refrain for some Irishphiles in town) has gotten a reprieve from its landlord and is still in business, at least for now.

Meanwhile, for the governor’s current band, O’Malley’s March, the beat goes on. The band is set to perform Friday at Maryland Irish Festival at the Maryland Fairgrounds in Timonium at 7 p.m. On Dec. 29, they’ll be at the Ram’s Head On Stage in Annapolis, not far from the Free State’s Statehouse.

Good to see the governor keeping it up.

Correction: Nov. 7, 2011

An earlier version of this story incorrectly identified the band Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley played with Saturday night. It was Shannon’s Tide.
