Tammy Duckworth Nabs Local UFCW Union Support

Iraq War veteran Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) on Wednesday picked up the support of two local chapters of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union.

UFCW Local 881 and Local 1546 gave Duckworth their backing over former Illinois Deputy Treasurer Raja Krishnamoorthi, who is also running in the 8th district Democratic primary.

“Tammy Duckworth offers the kind of compassionate leadership that is needed in Washington and there is no doubt that she will diligently represent the working families of the 8th Congressional District and throughout Illinois,” UFCW Local 881 President Ronald Powell said in a statement distributed by Duckworth’s campaign.

Roll Call rates the 8th district race as Likely Democratic.
