Former Hill staffer and D.C. public relations mainstay Gayle Osterberg has been named communications director for the Library of Congress.

She will assume her new post Jan. 30.

“[She] will bring to the position of Director of Communications in-depth experience and strong understanding of the Library’s mission of service to Congress and the public,” Librarian of Congress James Billington said in a statement announcing the appointment.

Osterberg was most recently the founding partner of 113 Public Affairs, which advises trade associations and non-profit groups on communications and public relations services.

She helped establish the Copyright Alliance, and served for two years as vice president of corporate communications for the Motion Picture Association of America.

Earlier in her career, Osterberg was communications director for the Senate Budget and Health, Education, Labor and Pensions committees.

She also served as spokeswoman for former Sen. Don Nickles (R-Okla.).
