Cain Endorses Gingrich; Santorum’s Daughter Hospitalized

Former GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain endorsed former Speaker Newt Gingrich for the Republican presidential nomination at a surprise appearance in Florida tonight, multiple news outlets reported.

Cain, who at one point had been the front-runner for the GOP presidential nomination, dropped out of the race in December after repeated reports of sexual misconduct.

Also tonight, former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) announced that he was suspending Sunday campaign events in Florida because his daughter Isabella had been checked into Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The 3-year-old suffers from Trisomy 18, a genetic condition that creates significant developmental disabilities.

The campaign said Santorum, “intends to return to Florida and resume the campaign schedule as soon as is possible.”
