Washington: Dennis Kucinich Polling Supporters About Move
Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) appears to indeed be considering running for Congress in one of Washington state’s 10 districts.
Kucinich, who lost a primary last month to fellow Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D), is polling supporters in the state on whether he should run. He would likely seek one of the three open seats in the state: the seat of former Rep. Jay Inslee (D), the seat of retiring Rep. Norm Dicks (D) or the new 10th district. The state filing deadline is May 18.
He is not being welcomed with open arms, to say the least. “It is clear that Cleveland and Washington State agree [on] one thing: we just don’t want Dennis Kucinich,” state Democratic Party Chairman Dwight Pelz said in a statement. “Kucinich was already rejected by Ohio voters after representing them for 15 years, and he isn’t going to find meaning in Washington State.”
