The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee outraised its Republican counterpart by $3.5 million in June, according to statements from the committees.

The DSCC raised $8 million last month, ending June with $31.4 million in cash on hand. The National Republican Senatorial Committee raised $4.5 million and had $24.3 million in cash on hand. The committees’ monthly reports were due to the Federal Election Commission today.

The monthly fundraising totals weren’t the only news to come out of the monthly reports. According to the NRSC’s report, it transferred a total of $540,000 to the Montana Republican Party in three installments from June 19-25. That’s the same week that the state GOP launched a TV ad that criticized the House Republican budget and lauded Rep. Denny Rehberg (R) for voting against it, praising his independence on Capitol Hill.

Rehberg is challenging Sen. Jon Tester (D) in a race Roll Call rates as a Tossup.

“Rehberg refused to support a Republican budget plan that could harm the Medicare plan that so many of Montana’s seniors rely on,” the ad’s announcer said in the ad. “In a very partisan town, Denny Rehberg stands out.”

An NRSC official noted that once money is transferred, it is legally the state party’s money and can be used for ads or anything else the party wishes.
