SC-01 Campaign Financing – Bostic Loan Got Him To Run-off Election

In the race to fill the SC-01 seat vacated by Tim Scott, two GOP candidates, former Rep. Mark Sanford and Curtis Bostic, will face each other in a GOP run-off election on April 2. Their pre-runoff election campaign finance disclosure reports cover from 2/28 through 3/13, when their initial 3/19 primary race was still underway.

Sanford for Congress reported receipts of $171,471 and disbursements of $271,765, leaving $271,765 cash on hand as of 3/13. The committee spent $125,161 on television placement. Major donors included Douglas Lebda (CEO, Lending Tree, SC) $2,600; Jonathan Lee (general partner, Lee Capital Holdings, MA) $2,600; Hank Scott (president, Collum’s Lumber, SC); among others. The Committee for Curtis Bostic 
reported receipts of $55,205 and disbursements of $55,687, leaving $56,542 cash on hand as of 3/13, with $150,000 in outstanding debts. The major donor was Curtis Bostic who loaned the committee $50,000 on 3/13. The committee spent $20,355 on a mailer and $10,511 on advertising.
