Jury Still Out on Reid Donor

The Carson City, Nev., jury continues to deliberate today in the trial of Harvey Whittemore, a former lobbyist and real estate investor, who is alleged to have schemed to use straw donors to contribute to the senatorial campaign of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev.

Whittemore is charged with one count of making excessive campaign contributions, one count of making contributions in the name of others, and two counts of making a false statement to a federal agency. View Department of Justice release.

UPDATE 5/29PM: The federal jury reached a unanimous guilty verdict on all counts except the one count of making a false statement to the FBI. The jury deadlocked on that count.
