Two filmmakers, whose film premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, claim David Koch’s money keep their new film off the public airwaves. The film is “Citizen Koch, A Film About Money, Power and Democracy.“

“It’s ironic that our film about the undue influence of money in politics was subject to undue influence of money in public broadcasting” stated filmmaker Tia Lessin. Lessin and Carl Deal are seeking funds “to replace part of the funds that public television executives committed to the project but then rescinded in order to placate none other than David Koch, who was a member of the Board of Directors of WNET in New York and WGBH in Boston.”

The film looks at the impact that unlimited campaign spending permitted by the Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United ruling had on citizen recall efforts in Wisconsin in 2012.  View the background on the effort to bring the film to the public.
