Junior Achievement Beckons Staffer | Hill Climber
Sarah Dohl, a veteran Capitol Hill staffer, recently left the halls of Congress to take a senior management position with Junior Achievement of Greater Washington.
Dohl, whose last day with Rep. Lloyd Doggett, D-Texas, was July 9, went into the nonprofit sector to become the group’s vice president for communications. The nonprofit provides financial and work skills to K-12 students, primarily through the use of adult volunteers.
Notable alumni of Junior Achievement programs include former Rep. Connie Morella, R-Md., former Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., veteran newsman Dan Rather, and former Health and Human Services Secretary Donna Shalala.
Dohl has more than five years of experience working on Capitol Hill. She worked for Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., before moving to Doggett’s office in 2009. Dohl said her communications work on the Hill would translate well into her new role.
“We are trying to improve our presence in social media and those skills translate well,” Dohl said.
In addition to leading Junior Achievement’s communications, Dohl will work with the organization as it expands into more D.C. schools and into Montgomery, Prince George’s and Fairfax counties.
