The campaign finance director of a Connecticut congressional campaign was sentenced to 38 months in prison for federal campaign finance violations.

Robert Braddock Jr. was the finance director of 2012 congressional campaign of Christopher Donovan, D-Conn. He was convicted in May of accepting more than $10,000 in campaign contributions made in the names of others; conspiracy to make false statements to the Federal Election Commission; defrauding the U.S. by impeding the FEC; and causing a false report to be filed with the FEC.

The scheme involved funneling $28,000 to the Donovan campaign through straw donors. Roll-your-own cigarette shop owners gave money to employees, who then wrote checks to the campaign.
