Rep. Darrell Issa’s Campaign Investments Earn $82K in Third Quarter

Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., is ranked by Roll Call as the richest member of Congress. His campaign committee, Issa for Congress reported today it had receipts of $599,321 and disbursements of $319,949 during the third quarter, leaving $2,676,859 cash on hand as of 9/30.

The committee reported it had earned $82,457 from investments in the third quarter, including $19,293 in dividends on investments with Merrill Lynch, and $63,164 on unrealized gains. In the second quarter the committee earned $32,108. In the first quarter the committee earned $37,541.

Another House member carrying a high cash balance did not earn as much. 
Rep. Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, reported today his campaign committee had receipts of $411,131 and disbursements of $181,380 during the third quarter, leaving $3,050,746 cash on hand as of 9/30. The committee had no investments and reported only $1,307 in interest from eight banks accounts.
