Schwarz, whom acquaintances say was a regular part of the Capitol Hill bartending scene for the better part of a decade, was found dead on May 27. Friends and family have been eulogizing the hospitality vet online ever since.

“Mike brought much happiness to our patrons and made not just the Capitol Lounge, but all of Capitol Hill a warmer place to live as our friend, neighbor, and our bartender,” event organizers said on a Facebook page announcing the neighborhood fundraiser. “If you had the pleasure of knowing him, please come and share stories. If you didn’t have the chance, come hear why he is so very much missed by us all.”

Capitol Lounge has announced it will donate 100 percent of all food and beverage sales rung up from 5 to 8 p.m. to the Schwarz family.
