Among the expected craziness that will come to Cleveland with the Republican National Convention , Sen. Rob Portman is working to bring a little prosperity with it.

Portman has taken the lead on community service during the Cleveland convention and on Tuesday, he joined the Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity and Owens Corning in announcing a neighborhood revitalization project.

Known as the “Buckeye Build Project July 18-20, 2016,” the effort involves Owens Corning largely funding the revitalization e a street in the city’s Buckeye Neighborhood.

The volunteers on the project will be convention attendees.

The plan is to rebuild two houses, work with other houses on exterior improvements and provide new roofs and attic insulation for five other homes.

“Habitat for Humanity is making Cleveland better every day,” Portman said. “The Buckeye Build will have a lasting impact on Cleveland, and it is an honor to be a part of it.”

The senator’s hometown is Cincinnati, and he has been involved in Habitat for Humanity projects there. He will juggle his time during attending the convention to help with the projects.

Portman advocated for Cleveland to host the convention before it was announced in 2014. He met with the host committee three or four times to push the city, Roll Call reported at the time .

For decades, Habitat for Humanity has hosted building projects at both Republican and Democratic conventions to give attendees and members of Congress the opportunity to volunteer.

When ‘I’m With Her’ signs take over Philadelphia , homes will be built in the city of brotherly love.

Portman boasted about Cleveland in other ways this week, too. After Monday night’s NBA Finals win for the Cavaliers, Portman said will be receiving a case of wine from his bet with California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, who was rooting for the Golden State Warriors.
