JetBlue Airways Corporation voiced its opinion on Congress and campaigns through a social experiment on Monday. The airline company released the video , “Reach Across the Aisle,” to show the country doesn’t have to be partisan. Following a montage of images showing partisan battles, JetBlue challenged the 150 passengers on a domestic flight to work together and compromise. Their test is if the entire plane can unanimously decide on a destination, everyone gets a round trip ticket to that destination. “You guys are part of something historic tonight,” the narrator said. One side of the plane was given a red voting paddle, the other side, a blue one and everyone was given a pamphlet of all their possible destinations. The group first needed to have a majority vote to travel domestically or internationally. Once internationally won the majority, all 150 people had to settle on a location. JetBlue showed passengers negotiating, chatting and literally crossing the aisle. “I know you can do this, we need to make some compromises here, we need to make some sacrifices,” the narrator said. In their version of a House or Senate floor, passengers were given the microphone to convince others to vote one way. About an hour later, all 150 passengers voted for Costa Rica. “A beautiful day for America,” the narrator. “So what did we learn? If people compromise and work together, all parties can win.” President of Costa Rica Luis Guillermo Solís responded to the video on Facebook.
