In the last several days, outside organizations have reported making almost a million dollars in independent expenditures to impact on the March 11th Florida special election. This raises the 2014 independent expenditure total for the race to over $7.5 million. Republican-oriented groups: The U.S. Chamber of Commerce reported spending $400,000 on 2/28 for TV advertisements opposing Alex Sink, D-Fla. The ads will run from 2/28 to 3/10. This brings their 2014 total spending up to $1.2 million. The National Republican Congressional Committee reported it spent $42,500 on 2/26 for media and survey research opposing Alex Sink. This brings their 2014 spending to $1,966,312. The YG Network Inc. reported it spent $38,324 on 2/28 for a mailer supporting David Jolly, R-Fla. This brings their total 2014 spending up to $157,766. The American Action Network reported it spent $30,000 on 2/26 opposing Alex Sink. This brings their 2014 total spending to $469,018. Democratic-oriented groups: (more…)
