Former Major League Baseball slugger Frank Howard died on Monday, Oct. 30, at age 87. Throughout his career, Howard had a close connection with Washington, D.C., where he played seven seasons with the Washington Senators, from 1965 to 1971. Before joining the Senators, he was with the Los Angeles Dodgers, with whom he won a World Series title in 1963. Howard also threw out the first pitch at the 2007 Congressional Baseball Game. Here are a few photos from our archives in honor of Howard’s passing. Howard greets Democratic Rep. Joe Baca before in 2007 before the start of the Congressional Baseball Game.
