Today, President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump concluded a historic state visit with His Excellency Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China, and Madame Peng Liyuan. This marked the first visit to the White House by a Chinese President in more than a decade -- and the first time a Chinese leader has made two formal state visits to the United States.

As President Trump said , "The meeting was one of Friendship, Strength, and Success, for both China and the U.S.A… Much has been, and will be, accomplished."

President Trump and the First Lady welcomed President Xi and Madame Peng with an official state arrival ceremony: "President Xi, Madame Peng, and the members of the Chinese delegation, I am delighted to welcome you to the beautiful White House."

President Trump and the First Lady hosted a full official state welcome, including a gift exchange, Silent Drill Platoon review , military review , and flyover -- a commanding display of American strength and hospitality.

President Trump and President Xi held productive bilateral discussions : "I think our farmers are going to be very happy -- a lot of very positive things happened... Great things for both countries. It's just been very, very productive."

President Trump presented President Xi and Madame Peng with a custom-made statue of a bald eagle at the state dinner: "The bald eagle is a national symbol of the United States and an embodiment of the free and soaring spirit of America -- and we hope it will find a nice place, a wonderful place, in Beijing."

President Trump toasted President Xi and Madame Peng at the state dinner: "May all of our people know a future of harmony, peace, and success."

Presidential Public Service Announcements Are Nothing New

The attacks on President Donald J. Trump's public service announcements are highly dishonest. The announcements are very clearly not campaign ads; President Trump is not on the ballot and there is no call to action. Instead, the announcements are a reminder for Americans to love their country and know why it's worth defending -- at home, at the border, and abroad.

That's not partisanship -- that's a government that still believes in the country it serves.

Administrations of both parties have used public service announcements to explain policy and make the case for the nation's direction:

The G.W. Bush Administration ran a national television campaign explaining the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act to seniors. It also bought Super Bowl airtime for anti-drug and anti-terrorism public service announcements .

The Obama Administration used national advertising to promote Obamacare subsidies and open enrollment , and a digital campaign to sell its Waters of the United States rule.

The Biden Administration poured hundreds of millions of dollars into "We Can Do This " -- television, digital, radio, and print spots -- to drive a nationwide public health message.

It's not just modern Administrations. President Woodrow Wilson's Committee on Public Information used posters, films, and speakers to rally the country. President Franklin D. Roosevelt's Office of War Information produced films, radio, and posters to promote the war effort.

When prior Administrations utilized the airwaves, it was called "public education." When this Administration promotes pride in our country, many of those same voices call it "propaganda."

Patriotism isn't partisan. These public service announcements are unapologetically American, clearly disclosed, and aimed at the country -- not a line on the ballot.

First Lady Melania Trump Highlights Art, Culture, and the Next Generation During State Visit of President Xi Jinping and Madame Peng Liyuan

It was an honor to welcome President Xi Jinping and Madame Peng Liyuan and share with them the history, artistry, and traditions that help make America exceptional and our trans-Pacific relations so important," said First Lady Melania Trump.

President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump welcomed His Excellency Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China, and Madame Peng Liyuan to Washington, DC, for a historic State Visit this week, which included a State Arrival Ceremony on the South Lawn on Wednesday, September 24, 2026.

The State Arrival Ceremony featured the United States Armed Forces, including a military review, performances by the United States Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, the United States Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon, and "The Commandant's Own" United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps, and concluded with a military flyover featuring a B-2 Spirit and four F-22 Raptors.

Following the Ceremony, the First Lady hosted Madame Peng for a special cultural program at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Asian Art, where they explored works representing centuries of artistic achievement and cultural exchange.

Their visit included a viewing of a notched jade disk dating to China's Shang dynasty, followed by the Smithsonian's celebrated Peacock Room, created by American artist James McNeill Whistler.
