First Lady Melania Trump Releases Details Ahead of His Excellency Xi Jinping, President of The People's Republic of China, and Madame Peng Liyuan's Visit to The White House
President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump will welcome His Excellency Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China and Madame Peng Liyuan to the White House on Thursday, September 24, 2026, for an official state visit. This visit comes more than a decade since President Xi and Madame Peng's last visit to the White House, marking a significant milestone in the relationship between the two countries.

On Wednesday, September 23, the President will greet His Excellency, Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China and Madame Peng Liyuan at Joint Base Andrews.

On Thursday morning, September 24, the President and First Lady will host a State Arrival Ceremony honoring His Excellency, Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China and Madame Peng Liyuan. The ceremony, which will be held on the South Lawn, State Floor, and Rose Garden of the White House, will feature 479 military personnel, representing all branches of the United States Armed Forces.

As the arrival begins, the South Drive will be lined with the Armed Forces Full Honor Cordon leading to a national flag display of U.S. and China flags where the United States Army Herald Trumpets will present a fanfare on the South Portico as the President and First Lady welcome His Excellency Xi Jinping and Madame Peng Liyuan to the White House.

On the State Floor, "The President's Own" United States Marine Band will play the national anthems of the People's Republic of China and the United States of America, followed by remarks from both The President and His Excellency Xi Jinping.

The ceremony will also feature a Presidential Salute from the United States Marine Silent Drill Platoon and United States Joint Forces Command on the South Lawn. There will then be a Military Review in the Rose Garden where The United States Army Herald Trumpets will line the roof of the West and Oval Colonnades. Military demonstrations will be performed by the United States Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, the United States Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon, and "The Commandant's Own" United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps. The ceremony will conclude with a military flyover featuring a B-2 Spirit and four F-22 Raptors.

After the arrival ceremony, Mrs. Trump and Madame Peng Liyuan will visit the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art to explore works spanning centuries of artistic achievement and Sino-American cultural exchange.

On Thursday evening, the President and First Lady will greet His Excellency Xi Jinping and Madame Peng Liyuan upon their arrival to the North Portico of the White House for a State Dinner in the East Room. The Office of the First Lady will share additional details on the State Dinner on Wednesday, September 23.

On Friday morning, the President and First Lady will greet His Excellency Xi Jinping and Madame Peng Liyuan upon their arrival to the South Portico of the White House for tea in the Red Room of the White House. Afterward, the couples will travel to the National Archives in Washington, DC where they will view a variety of important records and documents significant to the American and Chinese relationship throughout history.

To conclude the historic State visit, the President and First Lady will bid farewell to His Excellency and Madame Peng Liyuan at the National Archives.

President Trump Extends Most Favored Nation Pricing to Every Medicaid Program in America

For decades, Presidents have promised to cut prescription drug prices, but only President Donald J. Trump has delivered. Prescription drug prices have now recorded their sharpest annual drop in more than 60 years -- and those lower prices now reach every Medicaid program in America.

President Trump is the first President to actually lower prescription drug prices. Official data confirms the largest annual decline in more than 60 years -- the steepest drop since 1963 -- with prices falling every month of 2026.

President Trump ended the era of Americans paying the highest drug prices on Earth. Through Most Favored Nation pricing, 26 of the world's largest drugmakers -- covering 90% of the branded U.S. market -- have agreed to bring U.S. prices in line with the lowest paid by comparable developed nations. These agreements are projected to save Americans more than $600 billion.

Every Medicaid program in the nation now gets Most Favored Nation drug prices. All 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico are in, unlocking nearly $65 billion in Medicaid drug savings over the next decade -- real relief for low-income families, children, seniors, and the disabled, and another big win for taxpayers.

TrumpRx is already putting hundreds of millions back in patients' pockets. The platform has delivered more than $700 million in savings and now covers more than 1,000 branded and generic medicines. GLP-1 drugs that once cost over $1,000 a month start as low as $149; eligible Medicare seniors pay just $50 a month, with more than 500,000 seniors already saving $216 million. Fertility drugs, inhalers, insulin, cholesterol treatments, and dozens of other high-cost drugs have been slashed 50–90% or more.

President Trump is bringing drug manufacturing home and securing our supply chain. The same 26 companies have committed about $170 billion to U.S. manufacturing and R&D and are stocking the Strategic Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients Reserve -- cutting America's dependence on foreign supply chains for essential medicines.

Second Lady Usha Vance's Summer Reading Challenge Concludes with Over 30,000 Submissions and 360,000 Books Read
On Friday, September 4, 2026, Second Lady Usha Vance's second annual Summer Reading Challenge officially ended after three months of encouraging childhood literacy.

"I am so proud of all the children who completed my Summer Reading Challenge! I hope every participant saw just how fun and exciting reading can be and that they continue reading beyond this summer. Thank you to all of the parents and teachers who encouraged their kids and students to dive into books over the past few months and to all of our partners who made this such a rewarding experience," said Second Lady Usha Vance.

To enter the Summer Reading Challenge, students grades K-8 submitted a reading log online with 12 books they read over the summer, and received a personalized certificate, a prize from the online prize shop, and entries into a statewide raffle for a Kindle e-reader and a nationwide raffle for a trip to visit the White House.

Over 30,000 children from all 50 states and Washington, D.C., as well as American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and Puerto Rico, completed the Challenge, doubling the submission rates of last year's pilot program. At 12 books per submission, competitors logged more than 360,000 books by over 35,000 different authors. Average participant age was eight years old, between second and third grade, which is a crucial age for solidifying early literacy habits.

Ms. Vance launched the Summer Reading Challenge to combat summer learning declines and encourage kids to love reading all year long. As another part of her childhood literacy initiatives, the Second Lady also hosts a read-aloud podcast called "Storytime with the Second Lady."
