House passes voter registration bill that would require proof of citizenship

The House on Thursday passed a proposal led by Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, which would require people to produce documentary proof of citizenship before registering to vote in federal elections. Democrats attacked the bill as a hurdle for married women who choose to change their last names.
