Jones had raised $1.6 million and had $1 million in cash on hand.
For context, before 2001, only 1 percent of judicial nominees with no opposition were confirmed by a time-consuming roll call vote. Under President George W. Bush, that figure jumped to 56 percent.
But given the political bent of these states — which Trump won by anywhere from 42 points to 1 point — Democrats still have a challenging road ahead.
