Aides to Montana Representative Gather For Staff Photo

Can you spot the future Congressman in this photo? Here’s a clue: Think hair.

Yes, that’s now-Rep. Denny Rehberg (R-Mont.) in the back row, second from the left, with the long hair, beard and glasses. The year was 1982, and the 26-year-old Rehberg was a legislative assistant for then-Rep. Ron Marlenee (R-Mont.). Marlenee (back row, fourth from left) served for eight Congresses, from 1977-1993, until he was defeated by then-Rep. Pat Williams (D) when Montana lost a seat to redistricting.

Rehberg, now in his second term, previously served in Montana’s state House and as lieutenant governor.
