On Location

In the post-Sept. 11, 2001, world, we’ve gotten a little more used to scenes like this. But this April 1996 photo, thankfully, shows nothing more than Hollywood descending on Capitol Hill. The soldiers, rifles and tanks were part of the 1996 Warner Bros. movie “Mars Attacks!,” which was directed by Tim Burton and starred Jack Nicholson as the president and Glenn Close as the first lady. None of the stars was on location for this scene, which showed the military preparing for Martians to land on the Capitol grounds.
