Public Hearing on New Police Service Areas to Be Held

D.C. City Councilwoman Kathy Patterson (D-Ward 3), chairwoman of the Judiciary Committee, will hold a public hearing on the Metropolitan Police Department’s Police Service Area restructuring plan Feb. 24 at 10 a.m. in Room 412 of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Ave. NW.

Under MPD’s plan, the District’s 83 PSAs will be consolidated into 43 larger PSAs with a minimum number of officers assigned to each area.

Detailed information about the plan, currently being reviewed by the City Council, can be found at www.mpdc.dc.gov.

Each witness must submit his or her name, address, telephone number, organizational affiliation and title along with 15 copies of the testimony by the close of business Feb. 19. Witnesses will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.

Those unable to appear in person can submit written statements for the record until March 9.
