Celebrity Pets Are Headed to the Hill

In an effort to promote people’s love of pets, the Animal Health Institute, a trade association that represents companies that make medicines for pets and farm animals, will once again host Pet Night on Capitol Hill on Tuesday in the Cannon House Office Building.

“It’s designed to be a celebration of people’s bond with their pets,” said Ron Phillips, vice president of public affairs for AHI. He added that the annual event usually draws a few Congressional pets each year.

This year’s reception will feature two celebrity pets — Enzo, the dog that played Eddie on the television show “Frasier” and Tom, the cat that played Nermal in “Garfield: The Movie” — as well as displays of pictures of Members with their pet companions.

The event begins at 5 p.m. in the Cannon Caucus Room. For more information, visit www.ahi.org.
