PawFest Benefits Fund for Shelter Animals

Join the most fashionable canines in the District of Columbia as they strut their stuff in a runway show, participate in costume contests and help area families enjoy “PawFest 2004” on Sunday at the Washington Animal Rescue League, 71 Oglethorpe St. NW.

In a groundbreaking celebration for the WARL’s building renovation, the festival will include food and many fun activities for families, such as a puppet show by Barefoot Puppets, games, family photos and crafts. Dress the kids and the dogs in their best costumes, as there will be costume contests for both.

Those in attendance will have the opportunity to check out the crop of pumpkins and mums available for purchase, with all proceeds benefiting the Love Fund for sick and injured shelter animals.

The festival, running from noon to 3 p.m., is free and will be hosted by Z104 radio personality Jenni Chase. In the event of rain, it will be rescheduled for Oct. 31.
