Ward 6 Area Starts New Recycling Program

Residents in parts of Ward 6 are now able to recycle with ease — no more sorting required.

Those living in areas south of F Street Northeast and east of 13th Street Northeast are now operating under a new recycling program implemented by the D.C. Department of Public Works. A pilot of the program was tested in June 2003, and because of its success, DPW is introducing the program citywide.

Beginning this week, those in the specified Ward 6 area who had recycling collected on Thursdays will now have recycling pick up on Mondays. Each home affected by the change should have received information from DPW.

Residents will receive 32-gallon blue recycling carts. The recycling program utilizes single stream recycling, meaning all recyclables will go in the blue cart.
