When 60 Plus Association President Jim Martin recently found this four-decade-old photograph, he was “blown away,” according to Communications Director Ed Fulginiti. That’s Martin, then a sports reporter writing for the Columbia (S.C.) State and other newspapers, seated in the middle. Holding court to his left is former heavyweight boxing champ Jack Dempsey. And standing behind Martin is the late Rep. L. Mendel Rivers (D-S.C.), soon to become chairman of the Armed Services Committee. According to Fulginiti, Martin is thrilled to have recovered a photo of himself “sandwiched between two true heavyweights.”
