Fox to Serve as Cultural Tourism’s New Director

Cultural Tourism DC, a nonprofit coalition dedicated to promoting the “diverse heritage and culture” of Washington, D.C. has chosen Angela Fox its new executive director, the coalition announced last Wednesday.

Michael Fitzpatrick, chairman of the group’s board of directors, said Fox “will be a tremendous ambassador for the city.”

Fox’s work experience includes serving as CIO of Bell Atlantic (now Verizon) and vice president for product development and then strategic development for Simplexity, a telecom e-commerce transaction Web site. Fox also created her own marketing firm.

“It is rare to have the opportunity to combine passion for one’s city with the professional mandate to extend that city, its communities and neighborhoods, its cultural organizations, its history and heritage to everyone else in the world,” Fox said.

Fox takes the helm of Cultural Tourism DC on April 1 and will replace Founding Executive Director Kathryn Smith, who served for nine years in that capacity.
