Reichert: On Patrol

Before being elected to the House in 2004, Rep. Dave Reichert (R-Wash.) was a dedicated law enforcement officer in King County, Wash. Here he is shown as a patrol officer in the 1970s. Two decades later, he became the county’s first elected sheriff in 30 years.

It was in that role that he became famous for leading the task force that caught Gary Ridgway, the serial murderer known as the Green River killer. Reichert announced the arrest Nov. 30, 2001, after Ridgway had killed 48 women.
