Table for Two

The House Restaurant unveiled several new features Monday, ranging from a reservation line to new menu items.

House Administration Chairman Bob Ney (R-Ohio) announced the changes in a July 18 “Dear Colleague” letter, stating that the changes “are designed to create a more enjoyable dining experience for customers.”

[IMGCAP(1)]The restaurant, also known as the Members’ Dining Room, now allows Members to make reservations by calling (202) 225-6300.

“Though reservations are always recommended, those without reservations are advised to avoid peak hours to reduce the amount of time spent waiting for a table,” Ney wrote.

The dining room is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and peak dining times occur between noon and 1:30 p.m.

In addition, the restaurant — which is testing new menu items, including a “buffet day” in the public portion of the dining room Wednesday — will unveil an updated bill of fare in September that includes nutritional information.

House officials have also restructured the restaurant’s management and increased training for dining room employees.
