Commissioner Davidson

Before it adjourned at the end of July, the Senate confirmed Colorado Secretary of State Donetta Davidson (R) to fill the open seat on the Election Assistance Commission. [IMGCAP(1)]

The four-member panel was shy one commissioner after Republican appointee DeForest Soaries resigned his post in April. Davidson will serve the remainder of his term, which expires at then end of 2007. The EAC is an independent bipartisan commission created by the Help America Vote Act.

Davidson has served on the Federal Election Commission Advisory Panel, the board of directors of the Help America Vote Foundation and is the newly elected president of the National Association of Secretaries of State, a position she will resign upon joining the EAC.
