White House Announces Nominee for Public Printer
The White House announced Thursday afternoon that President Bush will nominate Bob Tapella to be the new public printer.
Tapella takes over for Bruce James, who stepped down as head of the Government Printing Office in January. The longtime GPO veteran currently serves as chief of staff for the agency, and has been involved in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the GPO alongside acting Public Printer Bill Turri since James’ departure.
“Bob and I have worked side by side for four years and I look forward to continuing our work together as GPO moves forward in its digital and technological transformation,” Turri said.
Turri will continue as acting public printer until Tapella is confirmed.
Tapella came to the GPO in 2002 to serve as deputy chief of staff following years of service in various Congressional offices.
