Nation: McCue Returns to Fold to Help Reid Politically

As Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) plots his political strategy for 2008, he’ll have a familiar hand by his side.

Susan McCue, who was Reid’s chief of staff while he was Minority Leader and Minority Whip, announced this week that she would soon leave her gig as CEO of The ONE Campaign, an international anti-poverty organization, to become a consultant.

“I will be stepping down as CEO effective December and taking on a central consulting position for ONE so that I can work more vigorously in Democratic politics, including serving as a strategist for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid,” McCue wrote in a memo to her staff. “I will be starting a small firm with The ONE Campaign as my primary focus. As the 2008 election cycle heats up, being a consultant allows me to work with each of you while re-engaging more actively with Democrats.”
