Pennsylvania: Lt. Gov. Backs Myers for English House Seat

Attorney Tom Myers was endorsed by Lt. Gov. Catherine Baker Knoll (D) in the race for the Democratic nomination in the 3rd district.

“Tom Myers is the right candidate at the right time,” Knoll said. “He has proven his dedication to and passion for serving his fellow Pennsylvanians through his church and his extensive community service … and he has made a difference.”

The Democratic field seeking to challenge Rep. Phil English (R) has become crowded in recent months with no clear frontrunner in the race. Erie County Councilman Kyle Foust, businesswoman Kathy Dahlkemper and church activist Mike Waltner also are running.

Democrats see the district as a possible pickup opportunity if they can find the right candidate. English received 54 percent of the vote against a little-known challenger in 2006 — his lowest winning percentage in 10 years.
