Wyoming: Youngest Legislator Eyes Newly Open House Seat

State Rep. Dan Zwonitzer (R) has formed an exploratory committee and said he plans to announce his candidacy in March for the House seat being vacated by retiring Rep. Barbara Cubin (R).

Zwonitzer, 28, is the youngest member of the state Legislature, according to the Casper Star Tribune. He is currently serving his second term.

Wyoming leans Republican, and the GOP primary for Cubin’s House seat is expected to be a crowded affair. The frontrunners, if they run, are expected to be attorney Bruce Asay, former two-term state Treasurer Cynthia Lummis, and attorney and former state GOP Chairman Tom Sansonetti.

Internet entrepreneur Gary Trauner, the Democratic nominee in 2006 who came close to ousting Cubin, is running again for the Democrats.
