Spreading Some Christmas Cheer

President Gerald Ford waves to the crowd at the lighting of the National Christmas Tree on Dec. 16, 1976, the year of the U.S. bicentennial. The evening appears chilly, much as it is likely to be when President Bush lights this year’s tree. This year’s ceremony is scheduled for tonight and will feature celebrities such as country singer Sara Evans and music from the U.S. Air Force Band.
