Pondering the Economy

Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben Bernanke testifies before the House Budget Committee at a hearing Thursday on the near-term forecast for the economy. The hearing comes as Congressional leaders are working with President Bush on a legislative package to spur economic growth. The package could include tax rebates for individual filers in addition to measures aimed at helping businesses. Democrats also are pushing for increases in unemployment benefits.
