Illinois: Durbin Opts for Seals Over Footlik in Primary

Business consultant Dan Seals (D), who’s now locked in a two-way primary with former Clinton White House official Jay Footlik for a chance to take on Rep. Mark Kirk (R) in November, was endorsed earlier this week by liberal Sen. Dick Durbin (D).

Durbin’s endorsement is the latest prominent acknowledgement Seals has received this cycle from lawmakers both inside and outside the state. In addition to Durbin, Seals, who lost narrowly to Kirk in 2006, has been endorsed by the Chicago Tribune, the suburban Daily Herald, Rep. Jan Schakowsky and Majority Whip James Clyburn (S.C.).
