Texas: Olson Calls Opponent Liberal on New Web Site

Former Senate aide Pete Olson, battling ex-Rep. Shelley Sekula Gibbs in the 22nd district GOP primary runoff, on Tuesday unveiled www.ShelleySaysAnything.com in an attempt to expose what he contends is her “highly liberal record.”

“Dr. Sekula Gibbs claims to be a conservative, but actually has a highly liberal record of supporting public funding for illegal immigrants, abortion procedures, and other liberal positions,” Olson said in a statement. “The voters of the 22nd district should know her real record. That’s why we created this Web site.”

On Monday, Sekula Gibbs released a list of “40 local Republican leaders” who are backing her as the “local conservative choice.” It came after a dozen Members of the Texas GOP Congressional delegation released a letter announcing their support for Olson.

“Shelley is a strong conservative Republican,” Harris County Precinct Chairman Art Oswald said in a statement released by the Sekula Gibbs campaign. “She has worked alongside us for 20 years fighting for the conservative principles we care about.”
