Texas: Sekula Gibbs Digs Deep; Olson Raises Cash on Hill

Former Rep. Shelley Sekula Gibbs, running in Tuesday’s 22nd district GOP primary runoff against ex-Senate aide Pete Olson, loaned her campaign another $50,000, according to a report filed with the Federal Election Commission on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, a dozen Members of the Texas Republican House delegation hosted a fundraiser for Olson in Washington, D.C. The take from that event was still being tallied at press time.

Meanwhile, Sekula Gibbs received an endorsement from the Texas Home School Coalition political action committee.

Sekula Gibbs and Olson are locked in a tight battle for the GOP nomination and the right to face Rep. Nick Lampson (D) in November.

Olson has outraised Sekula Gibbs in the runoff campaign, closing the pre-primary reporting period ending March 19 with $115,000 in the bank, compared with his opponent’s $85,300.
