Arizona: Phoenix Mayor Praises Lord, Passes Shadegg

Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon is backing attorney Bob Lord (D) in his upstart bid to oust Rep. John Shadegg (R) in the Republican-leaning 3rd district.

“I am endorsing Bob Lord for Congress because he will fight for Arizona and for Phoenix and fight for change in Washington,” Gordon said in a statement.

Shadegg was going to retire, but reconsidered after nearly 150 of his House GOP colleagues signed a letter imploring him to run for an eighth term. Lord believes Shadegg’s initial decision to call it quits will hurt the Congressman and aid his own candidacy.
