Hill Talk: Heritage Trail Plans Nearly Finished

Blueprints for the H Street Heritage Trail are almost complete and will be submitted for review in September. Cultural Tourism DC has prepared a tentative route map as well as sign locations and content, said Jane Freundel Levey, a historian with the organization.

The application will be submitted to a review and National Park Service board that includes representatives of the D.C. departments of Transportation and Parks and Recreation.

The trail will be called “Hub, Home, Heart: Greater H Street Heritage Trail.” Levey said the title refers to the corridor’s history as a shopping, transportation and family center.

Trail applications are generally noncontroversial and are quickly approved, Levey said.
