Blunt to Chair Latest ROMP Fundraiser

In another sign that House Republicans recognize their political vulnerability heading into the fall elections, five incumbents have been added to the Regain Our Majority Program fundraising vehicle.

This latest ROMP fundraising event, the second one of the year, is set for July 16 at the Capitol Hill Club, and is being chaired by House Minority Whip Roy Blunt (Mo.) and co-chaired by House Deputy Minority Whip Eric Cantor (Va.).

Among the eight GOP candidates the event is set to raise money for are incumbent Reps. Shelley Moore Capito (W.Va.), Lincoln Diaz-Balart (Fla.), Mario Diaz-Balart (Fla.), Tom Feeney (Fla.) and Phil English (Pa.).

The challenger candidates included in this ROMP event are businessman Chris Hackett, who is challenging Rep. Christopher Carney (D-Pa.); former Senate aide Pete Olson, who is running against Rep. Nick Lampson (D-Texas); and state Sen. Steve Stivers, running in Ohio’s open 15th district.

“Regaining our Republican majority is a battle all House Republicans are invested in, and through ROMP, we put our campaign dollars where our mouths are,” Blunt said in a statement.

When asked on Tuesday, a Blunt aide could not provide any projections regarding how much money this ROMP event might raise.
