O’Reilly Steps Down at Ethics

The top aide to the House ethics panel has officially resigned his post, the committee announced today. Staff director and chief counsel William O’Reilly will remain with the House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct until Aug. 1. “We thank Bill for his service and wish him well with any future plans,” Chairwoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones (D-Ohio) and ranking member Doc Hastings (R-Wash.) said in a statement. Sources on Capitol Hill said earlier this week that O’Reilly is expected to return to the private sector.
