Reid Fills the Tree

Frustrated that no deal had been reached on the oil market speculation bill, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) offered several amendments to the Democratic energy bill late Wednesday. Reid then prevented Republicans from offering their own amendments by filling the amendment tree. The Majority Leader had been trying to get his GOP counterpart to agree to a deal that would have allowed Republicans to offer a single amendment to allow offshore drilling. Reid filed to end debate on both the housing and speculation bills.
