Lunsford Visiting D.C. to Raise Cash

Wealthy health care executive Bruce Lunsford (D), who is aiming to knock off Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R) in the Bluegrass State this fall, is heading to Washington, D.C., next week for a fundraiser at the home of well-known lobbyists Heather and Tony Podesta.

The Tuesday evening event is being put together by Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Chairman Charles Schumer (N.Y.) and suggested contributions range from $250 for individual guests to $5,000 for co-hosts.

According to the latest round of Federal Election Commission reports, Lunsford could use the cash. At the end of June he reported $1.3 million in cash on hand with $3.1 million in debt while McConnell reported $9.1 million on hand and no debt.
