Reid: Pro Forma Session Through August

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Tuesday that he was not worried about Republicans forcing the Senate to stay in session, as they’ve threatened, in order to force action on energy legislation before leaving for the August recess.

Reid explained that they would already be in session for pro forma meetings during the August recess. Reid said he would make that move “as a result of President Bush not being fair” on nominations and using his recess appointment powers to install nominees that Democrats find objectionable.
